He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a BSEE. He was a registered professional engineer in the state of Tennessee and past National Vice President of Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Fraternity. Past Elder and trustee of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He exemplified the Christian way of life. Honorable discharged from the United States Air Force as a Major.

He was a talented artist and designer and had nine patents on his robotics designs.
