Filippa Kirkorova was not allowed to enter Moldova
Moldova’s border police have refused to enter the country to Russian singer Philip Kirkorov. Kirkorov, who arrived in Chisinau on the evening of July 28, spent the night in the VIP lounge at the airport, but was unable to cross the border. The Moldovan border guards believe that “the conditions for crossing the border have not been respected”. The Border Service did not specify what the non-compliance consisted of.
Lawyer Aureliu Kolenko, in charge of the criminal case of Moldovan MP from the opposition party “Shor” Marina Tauber, arrived at Chisinau airport. He told reporters that Kirkorov flew to Chisinau at the invitation of lawyers to testify in the Tauber case. She is accused of illegal party financing and violation of financial reports. In particular, the indictment claims that Tauber prepared a concert on June 19 in the central square of Chisinau, in which Kirkorov was supposed to take part, and paid him 200,000. dollar fees. Russian rapper Morgenstern, reportedly paid $60,000. The concert did not take place due to the police ban, but according to the office of the Prosecutor General of Moldova, the singers did not reimburse their fees. Instead of the concert, on June 19, a protest action against rising prices took place in Chisinau, gathering around 40,000 people.
Marina Tauber was deprived of parliamentary immunity, she is now under arrest in the remand center. A lawyer believes that Kirkorov was not allowed to enter Moldova because “the Moldovan authorities fear that Kirkorov will give a truthful testimony which we will provide to the court and to the press”. The lawyer was not allowed to meet Kirkorov personally.
Earlier this week, Philip Kirkorov gave concerts in annexed Crimea and also visited a hospital in Feodosia, where he met Russian servicemen wounded in Ukraine. He invited recovering soldiers to his concert, where he called them stage heroes and asked the audience to give them a standing ovation.
