People Think Adam Sandler Performed Moldova’s Eurovision Song

Eurovision fans are sure to have spotted an uncanny resemblance between Moldova’s entry into this year’s competition and famed comedic actor Adam Sandler.

Moldova’s act was brothers Zdob şi Zdub & Advahov performing their song ‘Trenuleţul’, although many people watching believe that the main man in the band was none other than Sandler in disguise.

To be honest, it definitely sounds like it, and we wouldn’t be at all surprised if at some point it was revealed that the whole thing was an elaborate comedy routine by Sandler.

Even if not, Moldova’s entry was a nice change of pace from the slow ballads several countries decided to go for, which left many viewers annoyed.

Many people took to social media to point out how much he looked like Sandler on the Eurovision stage for Moldova.

One person wrote: “This guy is like a cross between Adam Sandler and Jake Peralta from Brooklyn 99.”

Another added: ‘Are we sure Moldova’s lead singer isn’t just Adam Sandler in disguise?

A third tweeted: ‘Didn’t know Adam Sandler is from Moldova and also in Eurovision.’

Fans were happy to have something to tweet to distract from the numbing ballads, and if there’s ever a night to get excited about a guy who looks like Adam Sandler singing about trains, it has to be Eurovision.

This is actually Zdob şi Zdub’s third time participating in Eurovision, having appeared in 2005 and 2011.

I’d say overall he’s one of Adam Sandler’s least successful characters. #Eurovision

It was Moldova’s first Eurovision appearance when the country joined the competition in 2005, finishing sixth at the event in Kyiv.

In 2011, they performed in Düsseldorf again and fully embraced the Eurovision madness by wearing garden gnome hats while a woman unicycled around the stage. Sadly, this kind of craziness is normal for the Eurovision journey and they dropped to 12th place that year.

To shake things up, they were joined this year by folk music duo Advahov Brothers who brought a violin and accordion into the mix.

While that wasn’t quite enough to win Eurovision this year – that honor went to the Ukrainian entry who scored an incredible 631 points – the Moldovans collected a respectable 253 points to finish in seventh place.

If nothing else, Sandler can still play the role for real if they decide to make a Eurovision movie this year.
